Teed off about Teeing Off --- Teeing off Basics

By Mark Grove
I keep saying it in my articles on Teeing off,and that's keep solid mechanics and develop your own swing style, not some Golf tour pros. As well don't shoot for the moon on every drive off the Tee. Start off with small goals even if your tee average is only 150 yards. Technology will only take you so far and your ability to swing properly is what's at stake here. Swing speed is it all that important? Swing speed will help you gain momentum throughout your tee off but balance of the swing and your arms and torso, will help you power your swing that much further-- to add important yards to your tee off.

Now, I read Golf Digest and learn from the pros advice. But take my advice and take part of their routines and adjust it to your level of playing ability whether you're golfing 100 or close to par. A lot of amatuer or pros may not like my take on the basics of tee shots, but in order to make continuous progress to improve your tee off yardage and swing, practice, practice, practice folks. Full Swings Everytime; It's also important to swing through fully from your back swing to the down swing and full tilt. So practice each of these areas so your swing gets the full benfit each stroke. You probably ask, why would I want to practice on a half stroke or a down stroke? If you don't you won't have symmetry throughout your swing, it's as simple as that. That way you know where you are when you reach each position of your swing. Learning to hit the ball without the ball: Consider practice swinging without the ball to give you an idea of where your club head face is ending up and if it is hitting the head in the middle and slicing your stroke or hitting it straighter. Even the pros don't hit it straight all the time. So keep practicing. It's all trial and error golf gurus -- and if you have the guts to keep at it and fail before success at your tee shots and short game, you'll become a solid short handicapper and possibly a Q school draftee.
